Trader Joe’s always offers an interesting (and affordable) selection of wine. We picked this one up because the label was so cool. 27% chardonnay, 24% sauvignon blanc, 24% viognier, 21% muscat canelli, 4% pinot blanc and 100% sweet. Why is it called “Big Day White?” Why does the label depict a grape smashing cars? Because it is a “freak of nature,” or so the label says. Not sure this is the best description for a wine, especially for such a sweet one, but it does grab your attention.
“A bit sweet. The Viognier is dominant in this blend. It would pair well with oysters, or steamed mussels.” – Cresinator
“It tastes like Coors Light” – The Cowboy
“I think this is a good blend of whites. Smooth, especially if very cold.” – M to the K
“Smelled like a Sauv. Tasted like a Viognior. Not surprisingly, it is a blend, plus Char. Too sweet for me, though refreshing and smooth. If it were a car, it would be a yellow VW bug.” – Frenchy
“This blend is mellow, but too sweet for my tastebuds – not one of my favorites. I guess that’s what happens when you pick out the wine entirely based off the label design.” – The Mute
